Q. What is Gundam Generation?
A. Gundam Generation is an online Gundam roleplay gaming experience.
It's origin and development began around a decade ago on MSN Groups.
Over six MSN Groups, the system had several noticeable generations in which it continued to be refined and re-tooled into what it is today.
Thanks to the inclusion of the new character profile concept, what you see today is a 7th generation roleplay engine.

Q. Why Gundam Generation? Isn't that a videogame?
A. Yes, Gundam Generation is a name given to a series of cross-continuity turn-based strategy games on multiple platforms involving Gundam... However, the name is appropriate here.
Not only is this site a 7th generation gaming site as explained above, but there is the potential to play as generations of your character's family within the Universal Century timeline.
The name seemed to fit, and I doubt many people will confuse turn-based strategy videogames with internet text-based roleplay.

Q. What Timeline does Gundam Generation use?
A. Gundam Generation has no set single Timeline - The 'Current Series' explains which Timeline is currently in use, however after the conclusion of that story, the Timeline for the next story could be entirely different.
It's possible to play a Cosmic Era story for several months, then spend a few months after playing a Universal Century story.
We also hope to run a few original events in the future too.

Q. What stops us from changing History?
A. Well, with the exceptions of some special events that we will advertise, the stories we tell will be side-stories unrelated to the series you know and love, although you will be taking part in events based on the actual series.
You will have little opportunity to see and interfere with established characters and plot, and your Games Master (also known as the Storyteller) will have the final say on matters when you do have the opportunity to.

Q. How is Combat handled?
A. Combat between characters is handled with stats found on the character sheet.
Combat between characters in mobile suits is a little more in-depth, and uses a polydice system combined with both character and mobile suit data sheets, however all actual rolling is handled by the Games Master and translated back as an action.

Q. How are other actions handled?
A. Simply, they are played out via textual descriptions by participating players.
You can describe running down a corridor, go into detail about it, and it will be taken as red that it happened...
However, if you were attempting to sneak past someone or out-run someone, stats from the Character sheets come into play to see if your attempts are successful.
This gives you freedom to attempt anything you like, with the realism of potential failiure.

Q. How is the game be handled?
A. Whenever possible, I will handle the games via MSN Messenger.
You should have a way of using this service if you sign up to play.
The ability to hold live group conversations on a computer will make gameplay quick and easy. If we are un-able to for any reason, we will communicate on forum.

Q. I'm trying to fill in a request and don't get all the attribute stuff! How do I fill it in?
A. I've had this one a few times, so I apologise for it not being clearer.
There are three columns. From left to right, these are Physical, Mental and Piloting.
Ask yourself which of these is the most important, and which is the least important.
You can tick 10 boxes on the column you think is most important, 6 on the one you think is least important and 8 on the one that's left over.
Descriptions of what each stat within the attribute lists means are on the 'How to play' page.
For the little boxes that say Physical, Mental and Piloting above the columns, the most important one should be marked '1', the least important is marked '3'. The left over one is marked '2'.
If you still need help, post on the forum under Feedback & Questions, and i'll try to help you out.

Q. How is purchasing handled?
A. When you want to purchase something, you can either post in the forum (in the 'Gameplay Forum' section) or talk to your Games Master before or after a session.

Q. What on Earth is 'Kerflooey'?
A. 'Kerflooey', according to Dictionary.com is an informal word that means "to stop working, esp. suddenly and completely; fall apart; fail." And this is precisely what it means. The section of your Mobile Suit this is mounted on was destroyed or hit so heavily that this part no longer functions, either because it's limply hanging by a thread, is jammed, or is on the floor somewhere.
